BlogEnvy: Ways to Prepare for Your Company Video Shoot

Being in front of a video camera can be nerve-wracking, but you’re not alone. We’ve all been there! Check out some of our tried-and-true tips to help you feel more comfortable and confident during your next video interview.

Before the Shoot

Don’t Try to Memorize a Script: If you want to sound more authentic, try not to memorize a script. Instead, focus on pacing yourself when speaking so that your message comes across as genuine and natural. Video editors look for the best sound bites and can create a great clip when they have a subject who can speak clearly and comfortably.

Dress to Impress: Choose an outfit that reflects your style while also aligning with the company’s values. Avoid busy patterns or overly flashy attire that might distract viewers.  Most importantly, make sure your clothing fits well and makes you feel great.

Practice Makes Perfect (Sometimes):  If you’re giving a presentation, grab a friend or family member (or even just your reflection in the mirror) and practice speaking confidently. Pay attention to your tone, pacing, and body language.  If you’re preparing for an interview, take a look at the questions to get comfortable with the content and think about your answers, but don’t memorize them. If you try to memorize your answers, the flow of the conversation will stiffen and you’ll lose your authentic self.

Day of the Shoot

Arrive Early: Give yourself plenty of time to get settled in and comfortable with your surroundings. This will help ease any last-minute jitters. Chat with the crew to get to know who is behind the camera and get comfortable with your video production team.

Relax and Breathe: Take a few deep breaths and have fun with the process. Imagine you’re just chatting with a friend over coffee.

Be Yourself: Authenticity is key. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Just be genuine and let your passion shine through.

Dealing with Nerves

Embrace the Butterflies: It’s totally normal to feel nervous, and often those butterflies can actually enhance your performance. Embrace the adrenaline rush!

Focus on the Message: Remember why you’re doing this in the first place. Whether it’s to share your love for your job or showcase your expertise, keep your focus on the bigger picture.

After the Shoot

Celebrate Your Success: You did it! Take a moment to pat yourself on the back and acknowledge your accomplishment.

Share with Your Audience: Share the final video with your friends, family, and social media followers.

So, there you have it. With a little preparation, you’ll feel more confident and ready to share your message in front of the camera. On the day of your shoot, our production team will be there to guide you throughout the process so have fun with it and remember to breathe!
