We’re often asked if we have a video in our portfolio from a specific industry. Whether that’s healthcare, whether that’s oil and gas, energy, schools, nonprofits, you name it, we get asked for it. Clients want to see work done and their specific industry. And I get it. If I needed a heart doctor, I wouldn’t go see an orthopedic surgeon.
But in video, it’s different. You want to look for a company that has great storytelling skills, beautiful photography, and fantastic editing. That’s what makes the story, not the subject matter. A great video production company can make a fabulous video, no matter what the subject. You want to think of your video production partners as being strategically aligned with your goals.
For instance, if I was looking for a sales person and I found this fabulous woman, she’s the top of her company, dynamite lady, but she’s in the wrong industry, would I not talk to her? No, I’d be crazy not to. Think of video production like that. Focus on the skills, not the subject matter.
